Existential Existence Exemplified

She was and now is what the future will see.
They were and now are. They’ll become and then be.
Her being has been many times more than three.
She'll swear that "I am" (for a “suitable” fee).

How empty the noise that escapes through her lips.
How almost like “words” that cannot come to grips
with nothing that’s taken far too many trips
to nowhere. Thus, meaning first stretches then rips.

She loves, she says, access to ballots for voting
Except for third parties (who aren’t worth noting)
with candidates who can speak English worth quoting
unlike the word-salads she’s proudly promoting.

Half-Black and Orange Man, her and him slighting
those who can think and put thoughts down in writing;
“fighting” with metaphors (“clawing” and “biting”)
while, in Reality, warfare inciting.

Call it “election,” a wound that’s intended:
fantasy, fiction, and fear neatly blended,
needing our disbelief somehow suspended.
Then, once again, what’s begun never ended.
